The best weddings are those that carry the perfect balance of peace, joy, and of course, fun! The Hall’s wedding at Mount Pleasant Lodge felt exactly like that. Their relaxed timeline and energetic personalities were the perfect match for effortless candid wedding photos. If you want your wedding experience to feel as seamless as this, I’m sharing how to make it happen and why this venue made it so special!

Mount Pleasant Lodge has quickly become one of my favorite venues, but even more so now with the stunning new chapel! With the vaulted ceiling and crisp white walls, The Chapel could not have been more perfect for their ceremony. It’s also where the couple shared their private vows, where they soaked in their wedding day together, just the two of them. Austin gifted Grace a gorgeous necklace here, and it was the sweetest moment! They took shots right before the ceremony too, which was the cherry on top!
There’s never a shortage of photo opportunities at this venue. Austin and Grace even had their engagement session here. You can see all the dreamy golden hour photos here! I love how even though they were photographed here twice, each time was so unique and beautifully captured!
Everyone loves authentic and candid wedding photos, but how do you actually make that happen? Here are my top tips I’ve learned over my years as a wedding photographer:

When planning your wedding, I can’t stress enough how important it is to leave margin throughout your day. With a rigid schedule, there’s less time to document the small moments before moving on to the next thing. Like the sweet stillness with your mom after putting on your dress, unrushed wedding portraits during golden hour, or breaking it down with friends on the dance floor. These moments need space to unfold (and I’d LOVE to capture them!)
This tip is actually a twofold because the more space you have in your timeline, the more relaxed you’ll feel. It’s normal for your day to feel a little stressful, but buffering in extra time to breathe will make you feel so much lighter, allowing you to soak in each moment. Leave room for FUN!

When booking a wedding photographer, choose a package that includes coverage for most of the day. Coverage for Austin and Grace’s wedding was 10 hours! That may sound like a lot, but it was the perfect amount for candid wedding photos from start to finish. The day began with getting ready photos of the bridal party and ended with a lively dance party and a private dance before send-off. You won’t regret having your complete wedding day documented!

I get it. Your wedding photos are really important to you. They’re important to me too! There’s no greater privilege than to document a day so special for you to look back on for generations to come. Austin and Grace fully trusted me as a creative and let me guide them on fun poses and ideas! They weren’t focused on me (that’s how it should be!). They trusted that I was there capturing the posed and unposed candid moments. Some of my favorite photos from their day were when they laid in the grass during sunset. The photos turned out so unique, and they had fun in the process!

If you want your wedding day to feel unrushed, intentional, and so much fun, let’s make it happen! I’m here to capture it all, from the romantic heartfelt moments, to the candid wedding photos you’ll never want to forget.
