Heather and Patrick are such a sweet couple and are two of my very best friends!! They basically live at the beach so it was only fitting to have their summer engagement session on the beautiful beach in Charleston!

I have so much fun styling my couples and it’s one of my favorite things to do! One of the very first things I always ask my couples is what are they envisioning for their engagement session? It is so important to me that I not only capture you both beautifully leading up to your wedding, but that I am capturing who you truly are and I want you to be comfortable and in your element!

3 Tips to planning the perfect engagement session

To make planning your summer engagement session a little easier, here are my favorite tips to tell my couples!!

Tip #1: Go somewhere that YOU love and tells your story!! For Heather and Patrick, they are obsessed with the beach so it was only fitting that their engagement photos were at the beach! Do you have a favorite restaurant where you met or a special date night tradition that means a lot to you? DO THAT! Engagement photos aren’t just meant to put on your save the date cards…they are meant to tell your love story!

Tip #2: Wear what makes you comfortable!! I have given so much outfit advice but this the number one tip I ALWAYS give! Do you literally hate dresses? Then wear some comfy pants and a crop! Do you hate pants in general (lol me)…then wear a skirt of a flowy long dress!

Tip #3: Bring props and have fun! I love to make engagement photos special and unique! I love to set up beach picnics, bring florals, and just add a little extra pop to your summer engagement photos! Think about what you both love to do, and try to incorporate it in your engagement photos! ALSO….BRING YOUR DOG (if you have one!!)
